This February 2025, MusicArtes Inc. invites audiences to an extraordinary evening of music and drama with its Opera Intima twin bill, featuring Francis Poulenc’s “La Voix Humaine” and its counterpart, a dramatic monologue in Filipino, “Boses.”

This highly anticipated production will take place at The Mirror Studio Theater, under the masterful direction of the internationally acclaimed Sir Anton Juan and the musical direction of tenor extraordinaire Arthur Espiritu and with Rudolph Golez and Gabriel James Frias on piano.

About the Performances

La Voix Humaine

Featuring soprano Kay Balajadia, this opera intima by Poulenc explores the emotional complexity of a woman’s final telephone conversation with her lover who has left her for another, a woman negotiates through lies, manipulation, guilt, and gaslighting; yet, underneath all is the undertow of love that lays with losing one’s self or finding justice?

With a hauntingly beautiful score and deeply personal narrative, Balajadia’s performance, with virtuoso Golez promises, to bring unparalleled depth and intensity to this celebrated masterpiece.

Boses

A Dramatic Monologue in Filipino that will serve as a counterpart of the latter is brought to life by the dazzling Brigiding of Drag Race Philippines, one of the most prominent artists redefining contemporary performance art. Whose raw artistry is bringing new dimensions to this contemporary Filipino work.
